Supporting Growth at Younium: Stories from Our Team—Part II
At Younium, we believe in providing a space where everyone can grow and take on new challenges. In this post, we’re sharing stories from Matilda, Casper, and Alan about their journeys within the company—how they’ve taken on new responsibilities and benefited from a culture of collaboration and support.
Matilda: From Customer Support Specialist to Business Analyst
Matilda joined Younium in April 2021 as a Customer Support Specialist and quickly became a valued and integral part of the CSS team—and the entire company. Her ability to take on new challenges and grow within her role has made her a respected colleague across Younium. Today, she has transitioned into a new position as a Business Analyst, showcasing her dedication and drive for professional growth.
Q: When you first joined Younium, what were your thoughts about the company? How have those changed over time?
Matilda: I didn’t know what to expect when I started, as it was during COVID and we worked from home for my first year. Now, it feels almost like a second family, and I’m really impressed with how the company has managed to create a strong team dynamic, even though most of us work in different offices or remotely.
Q: Can you think of a time when you were particularly challenged or felt supported in your growth? What happened?
Matilda: I won’t lie, I experience challenges all the time. That’s why I think I’ve been able to grow so much within the company. The product itself is really fun to work with, and I was completely new to the subscription world when I first joined. I’ve been supported by getting help when asked, and sometimes people coach and push me to find solutions and answers on my own, rather than just handing them to me. It’s a balance of being pushed while always being met with respect and great answers, no matter the question.
Q: How has working with different teams changed your thoughts about your growth and opportunities at Younium?
Matilda: I’ve always worked in service roles, and when I started in support, I thought my growth path would continue within customer service. However, working with different departments and getting chances to explore new things shifted my focus. I discovered that I enjoyed working more with the product itself and all the details behind it, rather than focusing on building customer relationships. I’m really happy I had the opportunity to explore this within the same company!
Matilda’s Tip: Be yourself and don’t be afraid to ask questions. If you don’t understand something, ask until you do. It’s all about making sure you have the tools and information you need to keep moving forward.

Casper: From Intern to Front-End Developer
Casper’s journey at Younium started with a series of internships as a Front-End Developer. Over time, he gained hands-on experience, took on new challenges, and grew into a full-time role. His story is a great example of how Younium fosters growth and career development.
Q: How did you first learn about Younium, and what made you decide to join the company?
Casper: When I was studying, I had an internship period and started looking for companies nearby with open positions for Software Developers—preferably Front-End Developers. That’s when I found Younium. I read a bit about the company and came across a website that showcased the people working here, which made me even more interested. So, I decided to send an email directly to the CEO, Niclas.
I was lucky to get a second internship at Younium as well, and I was more than happy to return since I really liked the environment. After that period, I was offered a full-time position as a Front-End Developer, which I accepted without hesitation. Both the work and my colleagues were great, so joining Younium was a no-brainer for me.
Q: How has your role at Younium evolved since you joined, and what skills have you gained along the way?
Casper: Even though I’ve only been at Younium for about 1.5 years, I feel like my role has already evolved quite a bit. I’ve taken on more responsibility, and I’ve gone from asking my mentor for help to being one my colleagues also turn to for support. In terms of skills, it’s hard to list everything, but I’ve definitely improved a lot in coding with Angular, learned more about security aspects like Content Security Policy (CSP), and generally developed better ways of working—both independently and in collaboration with others.
Q: In what ways has Younium supported your professional growth and helped you take on new challenges?
Casper: There have been plenty of different challenges, from small tasks to big projects. One major challenge was a project I was supposed to co-develop with a senior Front-End Developer. However, they had to take unexpected sick leave, and suddenly, I had to handle it on my own. Looking back, it was one of the best learning experiences I’ve had. I had no choice but to step up, and I learned so much along the way.
That said, I was never left completely alone—whenever I needed guidance or wanted to bounce ideas around, my colleagues were always there to support me. That’s something I really appreciate about working at Younium.
Casper’s Advice: Work hard, be eager to learn, take and give constructive feedback, and genuinely care about the work you do. When you get challenged, don’t shy away from it—that’s when you learn the most.

Alan: From Junior Account Executive to Pre-Sales Solution Specialist
Alan kicked off his career at Younium in September 2022 as a Junior Account Executive, diving into the world of sales. By March 2024, he had already been promoted to Pre-Sales Solution Specialist, showcasing his dedication, adaptability, and growth within the company.
Q: How has Younium’s culture influenced your growth? Are there any specific aspects of the company’s values or environment that stood out to you?
Alan: I’ve always believed that a strong company-employee relationship starts with a shared value system. At Younium, transparency isn’t just encouraged—it’s a core part of how we operate. The fact that I’ve always been able to openly discuss my career ambitions has helped me find new ways to contribute and grow within the organization.
Q: How have teamwork and collaboration within your department or across teams contributed to your success?
Alan: After switching roles within the sales organization, I realized that it’s the synergy of the team that truly helps each individual thrive. I couldn’t have succeeded without the input of others, and I’m sure they’d say the same about me. In our fast-paced environment, we rely on constant feedback and support from our peers to navigate the challenges of a growing company like Younium.
Q: What’s a key lesson or skill you’ve gained during your time at Younium that has been the most impactful?
Alan: Setting the right expectations—whether for prospects, customers, or even myself. Understanding the complexity of the problems we solve is just as important as the path we take to solve them.
Q: If you had to describe your experience at Younium with a movie title or song, what would it be?
Alan: I might have been more inspired by Jules Verne’s book, but here we go… Journey to the Center of the Spreadsheets.
