EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT - JOEL WALLERIUS, HEAD OF SOLUTIONS, STOCKHOLM 🇸🇪
Joel is born and raised in Stockholm where he now lives in his wife’s childhood home, which was recently remodeled and doubled in size (from small to medium) to fit a growing family.
Huge sports junkie both practicing and watching, currently playing and coaching football, enjoying (well!) golf during summer months, running, badminton, and so on. No surprise he is a sore loser but learned very well over the years to hide it, but his kids are going to learn this the hard way...
Joel loves reading a good book, with a fair mix of fiction and non-fiction, in almost any genre as long as it is interesting reading. Averaging around one book a week, "but there is still a feeling of too many good books out there. So recommendations on new reading are always welcome!". 📚
Where is your favorite place you’ve ever visited?
Oh, there are so many, but if recommending a less visited place I love for people, I would say the Oregon coast. A few years back I lived two years in Portland, Oregon, and spent quite some time out on the coast. Many have seen and visited the Big Sur and California, but continue up north and it will be a bit more harsh, a bit more unique and even more exciting!
How would you spend your ideal weekend?
So if I manage to squeeze in a combination of time with the family, watching or playing football, cooking and eating good food with friends, poking around in the garden, and a round of golf that would be ideal, yet quite unrealistic to fit it all, but my time optimism is unrelentless.
Which is your favorite movie of all time?
As an avid reader I’ll rather go ahead answer by favourite books instead, I’m sure there will be movie adaptions at some point in time. Over the past few years I’ll go with ‘A little life’ by Hanya Yanagihara and ‘The Notebook, The Proof, The Third Lie’ by Ágota Kristóf, books that do not transform but shift the way you view of the world by a few inches - incredible writing!
Name the top 3 best things with Younium?
We do a lot of great and challenging things but always with a laugh along the way. There is a continuous strive and willingness of the people in all teams to always reinvent and challenge the current ways things are being done, makes for an ambition to always become better both as a service but also as a team and organization. I would also add the mix of people in terms of origins, background, nationality, etc, which makes it all more interesting and dynamic. Was that 3 things? If not, I’ll add the flexibility, in combination with given responsibility, which makes handling work, logistics and family life much easier.
